3 of 5 Mind Development – Ripples in Your Life
In our life regardless of our life styles we all have things that are ripples, waves and tsunamis. Looking through the framework of cause and affect the ripples, waves and tsunamis have different levels of affect. Let’s say for the purpose of discussion that a guy name Chris wanted 3 foot waves to improve his surfing ability that is his ideal. Others might want only ripples to play on the sea side with their small children others might want 15 foot waves to practice their big wave riding and tow-inn’s. Each scenario has its place, for now let’s focus on Chris’ ideal.
How did Chris find out what his perfect ideal is? If I asked you what is your perfect ideal what would your answer be? Did you say to yourself “I don’t know”? In an earlier article – Flipping your Mind to change your experiences I wrote “there must be a cause of these ripples” That phrase and other like phrases have a neurological effect on the brain the phrase “I don’t know” also has a neurological effect on the brain.

2 of 5 – Mind Development – Flipping Your Mind to Change Your Experiences
In Life Coaching and Mind Development, beliefs are one of the keys that unlock our experience of the world. What I am about to share is one of the most profound examples of what I have come across.
A man who was studying this theory created a set of glasses which consisted of a series of prisms that inverted the view of the world. This man conducted an experiment with ordinary people giving them the glasses to wear 24 hours a day 7 of the week. After a period of 2 to 3 weeks depending on the individual there mind corrected the inverted image.
It is my understanding that humans have a firm belief about which way up the world is and that belief is that strong that instead of accepting there “new upside down reality” thanks to some funky glasses, they instead changed their mind to conform to their belief of which way up the world is.

1 of 5 Mind Development – Who Created What’s in Your Head
I believe that the mind development is the gateway to having and amazing life. What I mean is all the parts of our life are filleted and processed by our brains. Depending on how well devolved our minds are will determine the quality of our lives. If I go to a friend’s place for a barber queue (bbq) – yes I am Australian so I do this a lot. Then at the end of the bbq I will say to myself, generally on a subconscious level, I enjoyed that because I like hanging out with friends and having a good beer. Because I have said that to myself then my brain will release chemicals or otherwise known as endorphins into my body as a result of telling myself I had a good time.
Whether in Life Coaching, Counseling or other therapies this is often called self talk. This self talk servers the purpose of proofing that the beliefs we have about the world are true. Let’s play with this idea….. Belief = If I go to church on Sundays’ I am a good person Action = Go to church Self talk = I am a good person Result of the self talk = Feel good because now you are a good person after going to church on Sunday I find this a fascinating pattern. The question I pose to you is where did the belief come from in the first place? Who said that “if you go to church on Sundays’ you’re a good person?” If that is true, does that mean that all people that don’t go to church and bad people?? I am impartial whether you choose to attend a church of any kind, on any day or not. I am questioning who developed your mind with these beliefs? It’s my understanding through my life experience and training as a Life Coach that all beliefs like these are created for us by other people and our experiences in the beginning of our life when we are 0-7 years of age. A belief that was created for me as child was “I must always sit up straight at the table” Yet when I travelled to East Timor a few years ago I realized that many people there did not have tables. How could this belief be true when everybody in the world doesn’t have tables? After this experience I began to realize that beliefs are created according to your upbringing within your social economic environment. This was the time when I really began to use Mind Development. If I believe in sitting up at the table and someone does not have a table and as a result they believe in sitting in a circle on the floor (which in East Timor was dirt and lot of the time) and sharing the food around the circle with friends and family. Who is right? If right exists then there must be a wrong to create the balance, so who is wrong?
